I Am Not Just a Child

I AM NOT JUST A CHILD

I am not just a child, I am somebody.

I have many dreams and my dreams are big.

I love to color my dreams.

I can color them any color I wish because they are mine. I have no limit to my imagination.

My friends and I, we tell each other what we dream of.

We believe that someday our dreams will come true.

This makes us happy and we laugh a lot;

We are happy until we get too big to dream.

I am not just a teenager, I am somebody.

I still have many dreams and my dreams are big.

I still color them,

But it is hard to imagine so many colors as I used to .

I am told, “I must grow up”, but must I leave my dreams behind?

As a young child, I imagined no limits and I laughed a lot..

One by one my colors began to fade,

And as I grew more, I laughed less.

I am not just a grown-up, I am somebody.

I have many dreams and my dreams are big.

When I want to color them sometimes they will not color,

But they are my dreams and my dreams are big.
